About Us
Chisel-it Ice was created in 1998 by Robert Chislett, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, class of 1991. After years in the kitchen working as a chef, Bob’s passion for the art of ice sculpting drove him to open his own business. Since then, Chisel-It Ice has grown into the Bay Area’s premier ice sculpting company thanks to its team of talented and dedicated individuals. It all begins though with Bob’s vision, fueled by his willingness to go in new, creative directions. If you can dream it, he can ‘Chisel-it.’
Robert Chislett
Robert is the owner and sole proprietor of Chisel-it Ice. After a final stint in the kitchen as part of the opening team at Ruby Hill Country Club, Bob knew it was time for a change. Shortly thereafter the ice studio opened its doors and the Chisel-it era began.
Jason Chislett
Carver. Shop manager. Delivery guy and one half of our freezer operations. “J Chizz” is everything, and our business cant function without him. He’s also a Chislett, so…’Heir to the Empire?’ That’s a ‘Star Wars’ reference just for him. Perhaps we’ll find that out someday. Jason enjoys life with his best friend and fiancée Bree Lovall, who is a welcome member of the Chisel-it family and has worked along side us on many large projects.
Jason Adams
Our lead sales guy, Jason’s job is to generate excitement about our Ice Sculptures and get us work. He’s also been a one man marketing and art department, an ‘ideas guy’ as he calls himself. In other words, spout off a bunch of nonsense which in turn spawns the right idea which comes from Bob. Total collaboration. Nevertheless, many of the sculptures we’ve delivered over the years began as a pencil sketch or digital rendering that came from his imagination.
Devin King
First our ace delivery guy and now part of the two headed beast that runs our freezer operations, Devin’s artistry and skill are a major contributing factor to what we show the world. In short, he’s a regular renaissance man and the picture above proves it. Devin could run this whole thing on his own and we don’t know where we would be without him.
David Ochoa
Meet the true brains of this operation. David is our resident programmer- he turns Bob and Jay Adams’s pie in the sky designs into working 3D models that become the finished sculptures our clients and friends see. “Davey” helps keep the freezer organized, laughs at our jokes, makes deliveries and teaches Bob and Mr. Adams how to not be behind the times with everything from computers to their phones. Apparently he chooses to take pictures with his back to us, but thank God he’s here.
Katrin Dayton
Christened “Mama Bear” by the office, Trin’s our office maven. She’s provides organization, structure and keeps the line of communication open between us and our clients. This is done through a hell of a lot of emails, invoicing, file keeping, ordering supplies, running reports and all of the additional business related tasks that keep this ice shop of ours a well oiled machine. There’s undoubtedly more, but this is just a start. And she’s from Rochester like the Chislett’s, so it’s a perfect fit! And we’re very happy to have her.
